Now I'll assume some of you butt-hurt moral faggots are still reading. Ok I guess it needs extra work to offend someone who takes religion seriously, you know, I've never been a religious person and I avoid reasoning with religious people -guess why!!-, and I'm not usually aggressive either, I'm a heck of a kind person, believe me, actually I'm more of a coward who just minds his own business and doesn't give a fuck, as long as I'm not affected -pretty negative, huh?-, but since I'm born and raised in the most superstitiously fucked up part of the world -honestly-, I can't help but find myself involved in some kind of a religious shittalk, and all I can do is faking expressions and replying with the shortest answers, and it gets annoying after awhile, sometimes I get all angry and offensive -like now- and I don't like it.

Let me clear something up for you since you're probably making assumptions right now, I'm not a religion-hater, I don't care what you believe in as long as you are not bothering me with it, and I expect the same treatment.

So, myself, Listen carefully, These things I command you:

1- Lead a healthy life :

This is probably one of the resolutions that's always there on the list, but so far I've failed utterly to get it right, or even to practice once in a week, My life style has been a disaster as well, drugs+traveling all the time+minimum amount of sleep+spending most of my time locked up in my room+irregular eating habits. seriously, It's been the worst couple of years for me in terms of health, but I'm working on that.

I'll travel less, I'll sleep more, I'll go outdoors more, I'll work out more, I'll restrict my smoking habits, I'll eat regularly. I'll fap less as well :P

2- Less Ideas, More work

I think I should stop generating new ideas/projects for awhile, I've loads of unfinished/postponed stuff that I need to finish first, so, NO MORE.

3- Save Money

2010 was a financial crisis for me, really, I should work on that too.

4- Learn to play piano

I have had a piano lying around my room since I was 7, What the heck was I waiting for?

5- Make MOAR games

Whether it's an outsourcing project for Spyros or an indie game dev jam or whatever, I SHALL BE PRODUCTIVE AND PROLIFIC.

I'll finish Farris -yeah, that's the news, I'm still working on that thing ;)-, I'll participate more in game jams.

5- Improve my drawing skills

Which means study the college trash more, because that's about the only time I get bored enough to draw.

6- Play/watch/read/listen/experience....

I shall live my life to the fullest.

Why Do You Do What You Do ?

With a skin covered in insect bites, a straight dusty face and a sleepy eye I write this very serious post *not really*.

I haven't updated this blog for a long time now, and I have my reasons, which is, as usual, I was busy, so darn busy that I almost stayed two days without any kind of nourishment *no kidding*, here, take my advice, If you care about your time don't do the following :

1- travel for more than 5 hours a day, 2- play Mincraft, 3- develop for the iPhone.

because basically that's what I have been busy doing, and believe me, when you realize it you won't like it.

aside from that, I want to brag a tad about why I do what I do, Which is making games *I guess*

1) because I do whatever I want to do, and I want to make stuff people can enjoy/experience and I find games a very suitable medium for that matter, Interactivity is a very strong weapon if used properly, so I'm more of the story-driven kinda game designer who care more about the content of the game as in story/experience other than a gameplay/mechanics thingy, that's why I much appreciate RPGs maybe, or art games, That of course doesn't mean I don't care about the other entertaining elements in games *gameplay mechanics*, but it's just not my top priority when thinking of a game idea, and maybe that's why I never finish what I start, maybe I haven't found the perfect concept yet.

2) because I love telling stories, designing and programming, which inevitably led me to game development, and that's what I like most about making games.

3) because I enjoy creating imaginary worlds, I always daydream about new places and create it's history/background story and stuff, then Video Games to the rescue.

4) because I enjoy making games, yes It's that simple, there's no deep meanings or serious goals behind one's desire to make stuff and share it with others, for me It's a way to express myself and speak my mind to the world *I guess*

now, I have my reasons, If any of you suckers ask me again why I do what I do I'll just just cut your balls off and feed it to my chickens.

Yo , It was twenty years ago today , Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play .... naah , Seriously .. It's been a long time since I posted anything here , It's been a busy summer as usual , everything is fine so far ....

I don't have much to talk about anyway , since nothing special happened ... As expected I always fail to finish what I start , I failed miserably ... Couldn't finish my AGBIC entry on time ,even though I merged two projects in order to finish one of them at least (I had to make a game for Spyros to show in the EED and one for the compo) , so ... that's how I roll , who cares ?!! ... Anyway , Screw all this , I've got something to tell you :: Believe it or not , I've got DREAMz, YES , I had -for the first time- a dream of my future self that I can recall clearly ... I can see him -My future self I mean- sitting on a rug in a deserted area , eating something .. looked like a jelly or something , with a gramophone playing a weird song with a language I don't understand , I was sitting there doing nothing but eating and gaining weight , and suddenly a beautiful and a strange looking bird fell into a trap I prepared near me , The bird was so beautiful that I wanted to set it free , It was like the only true desire I had in that dream , but I couldn't , I ate too much that I couldn't move .. the bird is making sad sounds and I'm hardly moving my hands toward it , I can't remember what happened after that but I guess that's when I woke up .... I have my ways to interpret such dreams , It's more like this dream represented my worries , I'm afraid that what I'm doing right now (represented by eating) would blind me of what's Important , what I really want to do/be (represented by setting the bird free) .... This is one of the deepest dreams I ever had .... I think I'll turn it into a short story or some Art-game when I get some time .

One week .... and I'll get some of my life back ... So , starting the next month , I'll be able to work heavily on my projects , meanwhile I've been doing various things to relieve the stress of the exams ..... speaking of the exams , I fucked up pretty bad this time , I really hope I can pass this year , It was a tough one for me .
I've experienced lots of shit that negatively affected my life , starting from drugs to even near-death situations .

Anyway , What doesn't kill you ... makes you stronger I guess , so .. It's not been that bad at all ....also it wasn't bad all the time of course , I've gained a lot of new good friends this year , joined a local community group , also a group interested in technology and computer science in my university .

I decided to join the Action-52 remake rampage , I'll remake the "Evil Empire" game , Let's hope it won't be as much awful as the original version .

One of the things I'm doing to relive me is this post , I want to rant about some stupid things that frustrate me ... Here we go :-

Life : Fuck ... Why ? ....GODAMMIT ...Why ? ....... 42

Egypt : I love the "Egypt" I read about in History books , but seriously ... How things became like that ?! ..... I don't care about Egypt anyway -As in a nationality- , ( BTW I'm an anti-nationalist ).... But still I live in Egypt and It hurts me really when I see people like Khaled Said tortured to death by the police faggots , Because I live in Egypt , I have less chances for a better life , better education or even better friends for god's sake !!

Egyptians : I always divide Egyptians to four classes/groups : those who don't give a shit / those who want to intercourse once before they die / those who want money and power for the heck of it / those who don't know what they want ..... I used to be one of those who just don't care and live for the day ... but lately I lost my motives to do anything , so I started to search about stuff to care about ... still haven't found one yet .

Reverence : Only Hypocrites have it .....

University : The humiliating way of wasting your time .....

Mubarak and Egypt's foreign policy : WTF ?? ... Seriously ... WTF ?! ... We are exporting natural gas to Israel while keeping the blockade of gaza ?!!

Stupid Assholes : I don't have any problem with the stupid part , I've bums of stupid people in my life , but It really annoy me when I have to be nice to retarded people lest I be blamed , I really have some aggressive manners that I've been trying for years to hold , Lately It became part of my life to meet those people everyday in the university .

History : That's exactly the reason I believe there's no hope .

I haven't had such a busy week in a while , It was one hell of a week , travelling everyday for 4 hours-long , Having almost no sleep , weed and shit , anyway , I made it through the weak safely , So , heck ... Lately I've been taking a lot of stupid decisions which wasted a lot of my time , and the Final exams are getting closer , so , I'm in tight situation right now , What worries me most is that I'm not reacting properly to these stuff going around me , Being cold and irresponsible most of the time .

Anyway ... Although I'm having lots of trouble these days , I still have some good news :D .

First , Do you remember "The Overdone" project ?! , well , We gladly abandoned it , Yeah , Now I Have some self-respect to keep my wicked thoughts to my self and not bother you people with my damaged brain anymore , yet .. I still have something to declare to the world :P , hence , We replaced it with a game called "LIMIT" (Temp name) , Here's the thing : You're in an alternative world where's no freedom for individuals , every thing is suppressed , yet , there's still some hope , In a book , but the book is sealed , you have to carry it , you'll die today , you've to deliver the book , but you don't know the destination , In short , this game is about survival and sacrificing , How so ?! . -The game is kinda artsy-fartsy :\

My midterm exams are over, finally , I did my worse , got totally messy , got marked as a cheater because of my mobile phone and accidentally broke my glasses .

But since i don't actually care about college , let's put that aside .

I've restored my motivations, after i was hit by a destructive wave of despair and feeling like killing my self :\ , now i really have a strong desire to finish my projects .

Currently , I'm working on 4 game related projects : (Sinbad , CeeQ , Faris , The Overdone) and here's some of my progress :-

Sinbad : This project has been there for 3 years and still far from done , Maybe it's the new duke nukem forever , anyway , I WILL finish this one , I promise , Tawfik and I have the determination :>, (Left : An In-game screenshot of the demo level for the online version of the game , right : a WIP model for one of the villains in the game )

CeeQ : A small game that I intend/hope to release the next week , I've already made a prototype ( http://bit.ly/dl1Izh ) , It was originally an entry for a contest .

The Overdone : Because I want so hard to offend the world , David Smith and I decided to make this game , we are using Unity for this one , and it all started when this conversation occurred on Google Wave between me and David :-

Dave : Let's use this wave as a collaboration tool and see what we can do with Unity, Blender and our brains over a week's time :D .

Saker : How about a platformer with a woman with big boobs?

Dave : "i like that" SLAM ATTACK!!! .

Saker : yeah , triple boobs as bonus

Dave : Projectile milk...

And you can imagine what happened next :D , We decided to go with the furry and all these Nazi , Monster tentacle .... etc.. stereotypes , Haven't done anything for this project for a while , but hopefully will be finished someday this year .

About Farris , The project is kinda postponed right now , because Hassan is busy preparing for college this year .

Yeah , That's how i start blogging , I mean ... nothing beats A MySpace-ish picture with a cool movie quote .

So , Instead of the regular crappy Hello World post , let's get down to business .

I made this blog for two main purposes , First is to show my progress in whatsoever i'm working on which i hope would be enough motivation for me to get things done , Second is to improve my English :p .

That being said , Here's what I've been working on these days , An Entry for the Montada's Game Development competition , The theme for this one is "Environment" , So ... I decided to make something that's kinda weird yet fit into the theme , umm ... I thought like since "FORGIVENESS IS FOR WUSSIES" and as we all know , Environment is no wussy , so it shall not forgive all those who dare to trouble it , here's a screenshot (Note it's still very WIP , and everything is subject to change) :-

Also , Have been working on a design for the "CATReloaded" graphics contest , but still nothing worth showing .
